Birthplace: Brazil

I am a biologist, master and doctor in Ecology and Natural Resources (UFSCar). I am currently an adjunct professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences at UFSCar, where I teach ecology and statistical methods for the undergraduate course in Environmental Management and Analysis. I am a permanent professor in two Graduate Programs; Ecology and Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences (current vice-coordinator), where I advise master's and doctoral students. My long-term research objective is to understand the processes that organize the amazing biodiversity of freshwater ecosystems, from the scale of rapids in small streams of the Atlantic Forest to the huge basin of the Rio da Prata. My research covers topics in numerical ecology, community ecology, limnology, ecological interactions, biogeography and biomonitoring. I have current and completed research projects funded by FAPESP, CNPq, Rufford Foundation and the Royal Society. I am involved in the internationalization of research through the coordination of the Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services theme of the CAPES PrInt project at UFSCar. I am associate editor of Acta Limnologica Brasiliensia, a journal of the Brazilian Association of Limnology and I have acted as a reviewer in more than 30 national and international journals.
