He holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of São Paulo, as well as a master's and doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering from the School of Engineering of São Carlos at the University of São Paulo. Since 2012, he has been a professor in the Department of Biosystems Engineering at FZEA-USP, conducting research and innovation projects with a strong emphasis on Automation. His primary areas of focus include agricultural automation systems, intelligent instrumentation and control, data science applied to biosystems, and agricultural robotics. In 2003, he served as a visiting researcher within the Control and Instrumentation Group of the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering at the University of Limerick in the Republic of Ireland. During this time, he conducted research in the domain of hybrid control architecture for mobile robots. Between 2008 and 2010, he undertook the coordination of PIPE-FAPESP and RHAE-Inovação-CNPq projects within an automation company, aimed at developing embedded telemetry and remote control systems applied to basic sanitation infrastructure. From 2005 to 2014, he was an active member of the ISOBUS Brazil Task Force and also held a position as a member of the ABNT Communication and Embedded Electronics Committee (CE-04:015.15). In these roles, he worked towards the promotion of the ISO 11783 standard and related technologies. In 2022, he served as a visiting researcher in the Precision Management of Animals research group within the Department of Biological Systems Engineering at the University of NebraskaLincoln (USA). During this period, his research focused on machine learning algorithms designed to determine the postures of sow matrices using computational vision. Currently, he serves as the coordinator of the Robotics and Automation for Biosystems Engineering Group (RAEB) at FZEA-USP. This group is dedicated to research and innovation in areas such as non-invasive instrumentation, machine learning, and computational vision applied to biological and agricultural systems.
