The professor obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Brasília (1987), defending the Master's degree from the same institution (1989). PhD in Psychology from the University of São Paulo (1997), developing research with a scholarship at E.K. Shriver Center in Boston (MA) (1996-1997). She works in teaching, research and extension activities in Behavior Analysis since 1989, as Professor in the Department of Psychology at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). Advises both master's and doctoral degrees at the Graduate Program in Psychology at UFSCar. She leads a research group that investigates phenomena and processes relating behavior and health, especially examining evidence of effectiveness and efficiency in Behavior Analysis Therapy. She organized and implemented the Mental Health Program of the Health-School Unit of the institution (2004-2008). In 2019, she coordinated the São Paulo School of Advanced Studies on Evidence of Effectiveness in the Treatment of Mental Disorders, financed by FAPESP (2019). She was Vice-Director (2001-2004) and Director of the Center for Education and Human Sciences at UFSCar (2004; 2016-2020). Currently, the Professor is the Vice-Dean of that institution. The mainly themes of her research group investigations deal with: emotional behavior: anxiety, depression and stress; behavior, health and quality of life; emotional behavior in chronic health conditions; effectiveness and efficiency in behavioral-analytic therapeutic intervention; adherence to treatment in chronicity; behavior in health promotion, particularly in preventing or minimizing losses in chronicity; rule-governed behavior and its implications for following instructions; and, stimulus control in conditions under aversive control or in class formation.
