Leticia Squeff is a full professor at the Art History department of the Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp- SP, Brazil). She holds a degree in History and a Ph.D in Architecture from the University of São Paulo (USP, Brazil). Prior to joining Unifesp in 2010 Squeff taught Art History of Brazil and Latin America at the Art Institute of the University of Campinas (Unicamp). She is the author of O Brasil nas letras de um pintor ( 2004), on the life and works of the painter and art critic Araújo Porto Alegre (1806-79). She also published Uma galeria para o Império (2013), which presents the history of one of the painting collections that originated the Brazilian National Museum of Art (Museu Nacional de Belas Artes, in Rio de Janeiro). She did her post-doctoral studies on Latin American painting of the 20th century, focusing on the Exposition d´art Américain-Latin (Maison de l´Amérique Latine, Paris, 1923). In 2012, she wrote an article on Brazilian Modernism for the forthcoming book The Art and Art Histories of Brazil. In 2013, she was one of the curators of the exhibition Araújo Porto-Alegre: singular & Plural (Instituto Moreira Salles, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro). In 2014 she was visiting scholar at the Getty Research Institute, Los Angeles. In 2016 was guest professor at the Art History Department of Zurich University,. Her research interests are in Brazilian and South-American painting of the late 19th and the early 20th centuries, collectionism, and the display of art. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
