Birthplace: Brazil

He holds a degree in Industrial Mechanical Engineering from the Regional Integrated University of Alto Uruguai and the Missions - URI (2008). He earned a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, with an emphasis on aeronautical structures, from the São Carlos School of Engineering, University of São Paulo - EESC/USP (2012). He obtained a Ph.D. under a dual-degree program in Mechanical Engineering, with an emphasis on aeronautical structures, from the São Carlos School of Engineering, University of São Paulo - EESC/USP, and in Engineering Science from the Faculty of Engineering Science, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven - KU Leuven (2016). He participated in the PDSE - Sandwich Ph.D. Program Abroad. He has been an Associate Professor at the Santa Catarina State University (UDESC) since 2016. Also in 2016, he received an Honorable Mention for the ABCM-EMBRAER 2016 Award in the Doctoral Thesis category in the field of engineering. In 2017, he was an organizer of MecSol2017 (6th International Symposium on Solid Mechanics) and served as the Coordinator of the Composite Materials Symposium at MecSol2017. In 2023, he was Co-chair of the 2nd Ibero-American Conference on Composite Materials (IAMaC2023). In 2024, he was the Chair of the 3rd Workshop of the Graduate Program in Mechanical Engineering (WPPGEM2024). He has published approximately 150 scientific articles in journals and conference proceedings. Currently, he is a reviewer for more than 70 journals and is a member of the Editorial Board of the international journal Frontiers in Aerospace Engineering. He was a Guest Editor for LAJSS in the Special Issue of the International Symposium on Solid Mechanics - MecSol2017 (2018) and was a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Mechanical Engineering and Biomechanics (2017-2021). He has experience in the field of Mechanical Engineering, with an emphasis on aeronautical structures in composite materials, as well as in the mechanics and dynamics of solid, elastic, and plastic bodies. His main research topics include the development of a Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) system, NDT methods applied to SHM systems, theoretical and experimental studies of smart material structures, determination of effective coefficients, bonded joints, uncertainties associated with the manufacturing process, finite element analysis, solid mechanics, and methodologies for vibration reduction/isolation. He develops research projects and collaborations with Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium), the University of Porto (Portugal), the University of Havana (Cuba), the Universidad Tecnológica Metropolitana (Chile), and the University of Bologna (Italy).
