Chemist with Master's degree in Chemistry and Ph. D. student in Organic and Biological Chemistry at Universty of São Paulo, Brazil, with 12 months at the University of Nottingham - UK. My experience is based on the evaluation of new cysteine protease (CP) inhibitors against cancer cells and some parasites aiming the evaluation of cytostatic and cytotoxic effects on these cell systems. For trying to improve their activity, the encapsulation of these inhibitors into apoferritin nanocages as performed as a drug delivery system and their bioactivity, as well as the cysteine protease inhibition inside the live cell were evaluated. During all my Ph. D. I have been working with cell assays, with large experience in cell culture and many different assays and analysis (such as flow cytometry, confocal microscopy and western blot). All the synthesised NEQUIMED compounds, supported by FAPESP Processes 2011/01893-3, 2011/20572-3 e 2008/04127-7, were active against cruzain in the range of low- to sub-micromolar concentrations.
