Vagner Carvalheiro Porto holds a Master's and Ph.D. in Archaeology from the University of São Paulo (USP). He developed as a researcher at USP in partnership with IGESPAR (Institute of Management of Architectural and Archaeological Heritage - Portugal), and with the University of Brown, USA, archaeological excavations on the forms of contact between the Roman Empire and local populations in Portugal. He developed as a researcher at USP with the partnership of Tel Aviv University excavations in Apollonia, Israel. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology at USP. He has experience in the area of Archaeology, with emphasis on Mediterranean Archaeology and the Near East, working mainly on the following subjects: provincial Roman archaeology, Ancient World Numismatics, exhibition curatorship, and Digital Humanities. He is the coordinator of LARP, Laboratory for Roman Provincial Archaeological (LARP-MAE-USP) in which he develops research on the Roman provinces of Syria-Palestine and the Iberian Peninsula. He is the coordinator of the ARISE Research Group - Interactive Archaeology and Electronic Simulations. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology of USP. He is the Coordinator of the CNPq Research Group entitled Ancient Numismatics. He is a CNPq Productivity Scholar, level 2. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
