He graduated in Physics from the Institute of Physics and Chemistry of São Carlos of the University of São Paulo in 1996. He obtained his PhD in Physics from the Gleb Wataghin Physics Institute of the State University of Campinas in 1991. Between 1992 and 1995 he was a Visiting Researcher at AT & T Bell Laboratories (Homdel, NJ) working in the department of advanced optoelectronic devices. Back in Brazil, he became a professor at the Physics Institute of the University of Brasília (UnB) where he coordinated the Institute's postgraduate program. He is currently a full professor at Mackenzie Presbyterian University and the founder of MackGraphe (Center for Advanced Research in Graphene Nanomaterials and Nanotechnologies). He is an advisor to the CGIA (China Innovation Alliance of the Graphene Industry), a member of the International Committee of the RIDC (Research, Innovation and Dissemination Centers) of Fapesp, the Scientific Advisory Board of Quanta-Lab (INL - International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory and University of Minho ), the CPqD Innovation Committee, CCFOTO (MCTIC's Photonics Advisory Committee), a member of the OSA (Optical Society of America), the IEEE Photonics Society, the Brazilian Society of Physics (SBF) and SBMO (Brazilian Society of Microwave and Optoelectronics). He works in the area of ​​Photonics in advanced devices based on bi-dimensional materials, such as graphene. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
