Dr. José A. Souza has a degree in Physics from the University of São Paulo (1999), a master's degree (2002) and a doctorate (2006) in Physics from the University of São Paulo. In 2006-2007 he held a post-doctoral program at Montana State University - USA. He is currently Associate Professor II and coordinator of the graduate Program in Nanosciences and Advanced Materials of the Federal University of ABC. He studied materials that have effects like colossal magnetoresistance, superconductivity, magnetic transition, metal-insulating phase transition and magneto-electric coupling. Currently, he works in the area of Condensed Matter Physics, with emphasis on Synthesis and study of Structural, Magnetic and Electric Transport Properties in semiconductors with hierarchical micro / nanostructure. Dr. Souza also develops research in the area of magnetoelectric materials (spintronics) and nanostructured multiferroics (nanoparticles, nanowires and nanotubes) in order to obtain a better understanding on the nature of ferromagnetism and ferroelectricity. More recently, Dr. Souza has approved projects at Fapesp and CNPq involving organic / inorganic hybrid perovskite structures (thin films, nanocrystal, and quantum dots) for use in solar cells and topological insulation. Dr. Souza is also part of the FAPESP 2017/023172 thematic project. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
