Graduated in Biological Sciences Medical Modality at Escola Paulista de Medicina (EPM) in 1979; where she completed her Master's (1982) and PhD in Pharmacology-area of #8203;#8203;concentration in Psychopharmacology and Free Teaching in Psychobiology (2001). Full professor at the Department of Psychobiology at EPM-UNIFESP and president (2024-2028) and vice-president (2021-2024) of the Institute for Advanced and Converged Studies at UNIFESP. Between 1997 and 2007 she was coordinator of the Graduate Program in Psychobiology (note 7 from CAPES), having also been head (from April 2007 to February 2013) and vice-head (2022-2025) of the Psychobiology department. She was Dean of Graduate Studies and Research at the Federal University of São Paulo (from September 2008 to March 2009 and from February 2013 to April 2017). From 2002 to 2007 she headed the Discipline of Medicine and Sociology of Drug Abuse of the Department of Psychobiology at UNIFESP. Act in several scientific societies / expert committees: She was assistant editor of "Addiction" until 2019, she is a member of the editorial board, Associate Editor of Frontiers in Digital Health and part of the boarding of journals Addiction Science Clinical Practice and Journal of Mental Health and Addiction, reviewer of several national and international journals. She is a member of the Research Society on Alcoholism (RSA), of the Latin American Society for Biomedical Research on Alcoholism (LASBRA), was vice president of ISBRA (International Society of Biomedical Research on Alcoholism - 2006-2010) and is co-president of INEBRIA (International Network on Brief Interventions for Alcohol and other drugs (2020-2022). She was a temporary member of the expert committee of the World Health Organization (WHO) to define Alcohol Policies and a consultant to SENAD (National Secretariat for Drug Policies) Presides the fiscal council of the Associação Fundo de Incentivo à Pesquisa (AFIP), coordinates basic research in Neurobiology of Drug Abuse and clinical / epidemiological projects on alcoholism and drug addiction, mainly on early detection of use and brief presential and virtual interventions. She supervised 28 Masters, 21 Doctorates and more than 30 manuscripts for completing undergraduate, improvement and specialization courses. She was coordinator in Brazil of international multicentre projects developed by researchers supported by the Substance Abuse Department of WHO (World Health Organization), among which the following stand out: a) the study of biological markers of alcoholism (being part of the group of researchers WHO- ISBRA Biological Markers Group ); b) the development, validation and testing of screening instruments for the use of alcohol and other drugs associated with Brief Intervention (WHO-ASSIST) and c) Alcohol e-health portal (in Brazil: www.informalcool.org.br/ bebmenos.org .br), developed in partnership with researchers from Brazil, Mexico, India, Belarus, Switzerland and the Netherlands. Developed the Brazilian version of the digital intervention "Drinkless" (www.bebermenos.org.br) In partnership with the National Drug Policy Secretariat (and in 2018 with UNIVESP), she designed and coordinated the training courses for Distance Education SUPERA (System for the detection of Abuse and dependence on Psychoactive substances: Referral, brief intervention, Reinsertion and Monitoring), offered (in 13 editions) to 145,000 health professionals from all states in the country and the Faith in Prevention course (3 editions), offered to 25,000 religious and community leaders.
