Birthplace: Brazil

He holds a degree in Agronomic Engineering from the Federal Rural University of the Semi-Arid (UFERSA), obtained in 1995. He earned his M.Sc. (1998) and Ph.D. (2002) in Agronomy, with an emphasis on Soil Science and Plant Nutrition, from the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA).Between 2002 and 2005, supported by FAPESP, he completed postdoctoral research in Agronomy (Energy in Agriculture) and Agricultural Engineering (Soil and Water Engineering) at FCA/UNESP and the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), respectively. During this period and thereafter, he also engaged in academic exchange and faculty mobility programs supported by CAPES, the AGRISUS Foundation (Brazil), and Fundación Carolina (Spain), working in the fields of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry (Universidad de La Coruña), as well as Agricultural Hydrology and Hydraulics (Universidad de Córdoba). He served as a researcher and collaborating lecturer at FEAGRI/UNICAMP from 2011 to 2016. He obtained his Habilitation (Livre-Docência) from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in the areas of Soil Physics and Soil and Water Conservation. He is currently an Associate Professor at UNESP, where he teaches undergraduate courses in Soil Physics, Soil Use, Management and Conservation, and Soil Genesis, Morphology, and Classification. At the graduate level, he is a member of the Agronomy (Soil Science) Program at FCAV/UNESP, where he is responsible for the course Structural Evaluation of Agricultural Soils. He is also a researcher and member of the Deliberative Council of the Center for Environmental Studies (CEA/UNESP).In administrative and institutional roles, he has held several prominent positions, including Campus Director (20132017), member of Course Councils, the Congregation, and the University Council at UNESP, co-founder and advisor of the Junior Enterprise (ECAP Jr.), Vice-Coordinator of the Agronomy program, and Chair of both the Permanent Research Committee and the Laboratories and Waste Committee. He has also served as a trustee of FUNDUNESP, and as a member of the Internationalization Committee and the Institutional and Scientific Committees of ICT/UNESP.Currently, he serves as advisor to the Office of the Vice-Rector for Research at UNESP and coordinates the PIBIC, PIBIC Jr., and PIBITI programs in collaboration with CNPq. He is also a member of the Institutional Rankings Evaluation Committee and the Permanent Committee for PDI Management, and participates in the CAPES-PrInt Program through networks focused on land use challenges in arid and tropical regions, as well as on the development of advanced technologies in Precision Agricultural Engineering. He is a member of the Steering Committee for the ODS Education 2026 Seal, the UNESP Agenda 2030 Extension Thematic Network, and contributes to the Data Management (EGD) and Sustainability Offices. In addition, he serves as a lecturer in graduate programs at UFSCar (Sustainability in Environmental Management) and UNICAMP (Agricultural Engineering). At the international level, he served as Deputy Chair of the Controlled Traffic Farming (WG-K) group of the International Soil Tillage Research Organization (ISTRO), has worked as an institutional evaluator for INEP/MEC, and acts as an ad hoc consultant for funding agencies and specialized scientific journals. He is also a full member of the Technical Chamber of FEHIDRO (CBH-RB).He has extensive experience in Agronomy and Agricultural Engineering, with emphasis on pedology and soil physics, mechanics, and dynamics. His main research interests include soil quality and sustainability in protected and modified environments, estimation of carbon stocks, soil compaction, and modeling of load-bearing capacity and failure of agricultural soils.
