Graduation in Medicine at Faculdade de Medicina, University of Sao Paulo [FMUSP] (1972), Master in Medicine at FMUSP (1984), Ph.D. in Medicine at FMUSP (1988) and Associate Professor at FMUSP (2004). Docent at the Universidade de Sao Paulo since 1988, at the Department of Preventive Medicine and develop research activities at the Instituto de Medicina Tropical de São Paulo (IMT), USP where acted as Technical and Scientific Director from 2006 through 2010. Presently is president o the Commitee of the Graduate Course at IMT since 2017. Research areas: Immunology with emphasis in Immunopathology, specifically in leishmaniasis, leishmania, inflammation, insulin-like growth factor and lipoproteins. Member of the editorial board of the Revista do Instituto de Medicina Tropical de São Paulo and the International Trends in Immunity. Participates in the Evaluation Committee of FAPESP - PIPE projects. Collaborator of the World Health Organization network on diagnosis of visceral leishmaniasis . Coordinator in Brazil of the cooperation project between Tropical Medicine Institute, University of São Paulo and University of Bergen (CAPES-SIU).Principal investigator in Brazil of cooperation projects between University of São Paulo and University of York, United Kingdom (Medical Research Council - GCRF and UK-FAPESP).
