Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Instituto de Física de São Carlos (IFSC)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Holds a Bachelor's degree in Physics from the Federal University of São Carlos (1985), a Master's degree in Applied Physics from the São Carlos Institute of Physics - University of São Paulo (1988), and a Doctorate in Sciences from the Université Paris XI (Paris-Sud) (1992). Currently, he is an associate professor, MS-5, level A3, at the São Carlos Institute of Physics, University of São Paulo. He has experience in physics, with an emphasis on the structure of crystalline and amorphous solids and on the development of materials for sensing toxic gases. Regarding the study of solid structure, he has worked mainly on the following research topics: Characterization of the local and electronic structure of ceramic, vitreous, and nanostructured oxide materials using X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy (EXAFS-XANES), X-ray Diffraction, and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS). Regarding the development of toxic gas sensor materials, the research has focused primarily on improving their properties, particularly selectivity and operating temperature. Current research focuses on the development of composite materials or heterostructures based on semiconductor metal oxides and graphene, applied as toxic gas sensors. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
