She has a degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2000), a master's degree in Biological Sciences (Genetics) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2002), and a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences (Biochemistry) from the University of São Paulo (2005). She completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Chicago in the Department of Ecology and Evolution (2010). She was an associate researcher at the University of Chicago (2011-2012). She served as an Associate Professor at Arizona State University from 2022 to 2023. She is currently a professor at the Department of Genetics and Evolutionary Biology at the University of São Paulo and a Young Researcher (Fapesp). She has experience in the area of Genetics and Evolution, with an emphasis on the study of sex chromosomes, gene expression in gametogenesis, evolution of new genes, and bioinformatics.
