Dr. Rocha graduated in Chemical Engineering from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas-UNICAMP, in 1990. Holds a master?s degree in Energy Systems Planning from UNICAMP (1993) and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering also from UNICAMP (1997). He worked as a visiting researcher at University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland, from 1994 to 1996 and from 1997 to 1999 at the National Renewable Energy Lab, Golden, Colorado, USA. As a consultant, Dr. Rocha worked in 2000 for CENBIO-Centro Nacional de Referência em Biomassa, in São Paulo, and from 2001 to 2005, for NIPE-Núcleo Interdisciplinar de Planejamento Energético da UNICAMP, in Campinas. Co-founder of BIOWARE Tecnologia, a spin-off company of INCAMP (UNICAMP Incubator for Technology-Based Companies). He currently works for EMBRAPA Territorial Management in Campinas SP after serving at Embrapa Agroenergy in Brasília, Brazil for 9 years. He has been tauch at Fundação Getúlio Vargas Professional Master in Agribusiness since 2008. His professional and academic experience in the areas of bioenergy, focusing mainly on topics concerning biomass thermal conversion, bio-oil, pyrolysis, gasification, renewable energy and fixed and fluidized bed.
