Marcia Cristina Branciforti is an Associate Professor in the Department of Materials Engineering at the School of Engineering of São Carlos (EESC) at the University of São Paulo (USP) and a specialist in polymeric materials. She is the Vice Coordinator of the Undergraduate Committee for the Materials and Manufacturing Engineering Program at EESC/USP. She holds a bachelor's and master's degree in Chemistry from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and a Ph.D. in Materials Engineering from the Universität Dortmund (UNIDO), Germany. Between 2023 and 2024, she served as a visiting professor in the Department of Wood Science and Engineering at Oregon State University (OSU), USA. She has completed postdoctoral research in Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering at the University of Minnesota (UMN), USA; Materials Science and Engineering at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar); and Polymer Physical Chemistry at UNICAMP. She is a professor and advisor for the Graduate Program in Materials Science and Engineering (PGrCEM). She oversees the Prof. Jürgen Petermann Biomaterials Laboratory (BioMat) and the Rheology Laboratory (PantaRhea), both at EESC/USP. Her research focuses on Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, particularly in polymers and their applications, with an emphasis on biomaterials, bio(nano)composites, morphology, rheology, processing-structure-property correlations, additive manufacturing, industrial waste reuse, hybrid materials, polymeric composites, and wood engineering. She maintains international collaborations with professors from Oregon State University (OSU/USA), the University of Minnesota (UMN/USA), the Université de Strasbourg (UNISTRA/France), and the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU-Leuven/Belgium). In Brazil, she collaborates with professors from various institutions, including the Botucatu School of Medicine (UNESP), the School of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science (UNESP), the Department of Mechanical Engineering (USP), the Department of Biology (UFSCar), the Department of Morphology and Pathology (UFSCar), the São Carlos Institute of Physics (USP), the Bioenergy Research Institute (UNESP), the Department of Mechanical Engineering (UFSCar), the São Carlos Institute of Chemistry (USP), the Department of Production Engineering (USP), and Embrapa Instrumentation (São Carlos). She is a full member of the Council of the Department of Materials Engineering, the Culture and Extension Committee of the School of Engineering of São Carlos, the Deliberative Council of the Center for Health Engineering, and the Coordinating Committee of the Graduate Program in Materials Science and Engineering at EESC. She is also an alternate member of the Undergraduate Committee at EESC. Between 2015 and 2023, she coordinated the Supervised Curricular Internships for the Materials and Manufacturing Engineering undergraduate program at EESC. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
