Born in 1971 in the city of São Paulo (Brazil), he graduated in Chemistry (1992), received his PhD in Organic Chemistry (1997) and did postoctoral work in Biochemistry (2001) at Chemistry Institute of São Paulo University (IQ-USP). During his doctoral work, under supervision of Dr. Josef W. Baader, he investigated the mechanism involved in the peroxyoxalate chemiluminescent system (light-sticks) and wrote the thesis "Mechanistic Study on the Peroxyoxalate System". The postdoctoral work on the Biochemistry Dept. of IQ-USP with collaboration of Prof. Dr. Etelvino J. H. Bechara, was focused on the degradation of acrylo-melaminic automotive resins by dragonfly eggs. TCurrently, he is Associated Professor and lectures Organic and Environmental Organic Chemistry at IQ-USP, where his group investigates academic and applied aspects of fungal bioluminescence.
