Full Professor (University of Campinas - 2023) and IEEE Fellow Member (2024).Electrical Engineering Degree (1984) and master's at Electric Engineering (1991) from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro and D.Sc. at Electric Engineering from Universidade Estadual de Campinas - UNICAMP (1998). After graduating she worked for several years for consulting firms in electromagnetic transient in power system, including ASEA in Ludvika, Sweden. Since 2002 she became a faculty member at University of Campinas, where she is currently Full Professor. Dr. Tavares is an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, Member of the Editorial Board of Electric Power Systems Research Journal and is a Member of Technical Committee of IPST Conference. She has supervised over 45 PhD and MSc projects, has authored and co-authored over 60 journal papers and over 190 conference papers. She has 13 granted patents and has deposited 15. Her main interests are power system analysis, electromagnetic transient studies, arc modeling, very long-distance transmission systems, real time studies and protection.
