Researcher/ PI at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation since 2002, working in collaboration with the São Paulo Agribusiness Technology Agency (APTA). BS in Agronomy from the University of São Paulo (USP, 1993), Master's degree in Plant Pathology from USP (1996), PhD in Plant Virology from University of Florida (2001) and post-doctorate from USP (2002). Associate editor of the journals Plant Pathology, Annals of Applied Biology, and Tropical Plant Pathology, and guest editor of the journals Frontiers in Plant Science and Frontiers in Microbiology. Is a member of the Executive Committee of the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV, 2023-2026). served as the co-chairperson of the family Rhabdoviridae Study Group (SG) of the ICTV (2020-2023), and has been a member of this SG since 2018. Chairperson of genus Cilevirus SG for the period 2011-2014 and still a member of this SG (now called family Kitaviridae SG) since 2015. Chairperson of the International Organization of Citrus Virologists (IOCV) for the period from 2013 to 2016, and still serves on the Advisory Council of this Organization (2016-2019, 2019-2023). Project 111 member and visiting professor at Southwest University in Chongqing, China (2018-2022). Member of the International Panel for the elaboration of protocols for the diagnosis of citrus leprosis for the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC/FAO) (effective 2020-2024). President of the Brazilian Society of Phytopathology (SBF, 2021-2025). My primarily interests involve the following topics: plant-pathogen-vector interactions, plant viruses, citrus leprosis, viruses transmitted by Brevipalpus mites, HLB or citrus greening, transcriptomics, and functional genomics.
