Associate Professor of the Department of Physiology and Pathology, School of Dentistry of Araraquara (FOAr), São Paulo State University (UNESP). Obtained the Bachelor in Pharmacy and Biochemistry (BPharm) degree from the State University of Londrina (2003), and M.Sc. (2006) and Ph.D. (2010) degrees (Physiology) from the University of São Paulo. He is research fellow (PQ) from CNPq. He has experience in the field of System Physiology, with emphasis in Respiratory Physiology, Cardiovascular Physiology and Neuroscience. His research seeks to elucidate how the brain coordinates respiration and cardiovascular function in different physiological (rest, high altitudes (reduction of oxygen partial pressure) and physical exercise] and pathological states (sleep-breathing disorders, hypertension, neurological syndromes). Using different experimental techniques, in collaboration with other researchers from Brazil and abroad, his laboratory explores the central mechanisms responsible for the motor control of pulmonary ventilation and cardiovascular autonomic activity, as well as the neural circuits responsible for cardiorespiratory integration (respiratory-sympathetic coupling).
