Graduated in Chemistry from São Paulo University in 1995, he received his master's degree in Biological Sciences (Molecular Biology) with emphasis in Immunology from Federal University of São Paulo and Heart Institute (UNIFESP/InCOR-FMUSP) in 1999 and his doctoral degree in Biological Sciences (Molecular Biology) with emphasis in Immunology from Federal University of São Paulo and Heart Institute (UNIFESP/InCOR-FMUSP) in 2004. He moved to Boston in 2005 where he developed his postdoctoral studies applying phosphoproteomics in the analysis of the defect in central tolerance induction in non-obese diabetogenic mice at the Benoist-Mathis lab at the Joslin Diabetes Center, Harvard Medical School and at the Forest White lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology completing his studies in 2010. Soon after, he moved to London where he started a new postdoctoral study at The Institute of Cancer Research working with cancer cell phosphoproteomics analysis completing his study in 2012. Later, he moved to Brazil where he has been a Senior Research Scientist at the Laboratory of Applied Toxinology (LETA) at the Instituto Butantan in São Paulo leading the Proteomics and Mass Spectrometry Laboratory since June of 2013, professor at the Toxinology Post-graduate Program at the Butantan Institute since 2017 and accredited professor at the Biotechnology Inter-unity USP-IB-IPT program since May of 2019. He has applied his Biochemistry and Immunology background and expertise in Mass Spectrometry to analyze the potential anti-tumorigenic effect of proteins derived from the snake and scorpion venoms on different cancer cell lines and the effect of snake venom on mice brain tissues.
