Associate Professor of the Discipline of Digestive System Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo, with Associate Professorship from the University of São Paulo (2014), he is Director of the Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Unit at the Hospital das Clínicas of the Faculty of Medicine of São Paulo. USP. Graduated in Medicine from the University of São Paulo (1985), Master's (1995) and Doctorate (2000) in Digestive System Surgery from the University of São Paulo and Post-doctorate as Research Fellow at the University of Southern California, in Los Angeles during the year 2004. Specialist in Digestive System Surgery and full member of the Brazilian College of Digestive Surgery (CBCD), is a full member of the Brazilian College of Surgeons (CBC), Brazilian Society of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery (SBCBM), Brazilian Association of Gastric Cancer (ABCG), Brazilian Society of Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery (SOBRACIL) and International Societies: American Society for Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery (ASBMS), Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract (SSAT) and the International Federation for Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO). Participated in more than 138 Judging Committees for Masters, Doctorates and Competitions. He has more than 160 articles published in National and International Medical Journals, with more than 380 works presented at National and International Medical Congresses. Author of 63 national and 15 international book chapters. He gave more than 400 lectures at medical courses and events. Supervised 7 scientific initiation students; 6 Master's and 6 Doctoral students, co-supervised. Currently supervises 1 scientific initiation student, 1 master's degree and 2 doctorates. He is part of the Executive Committee of the National Board and is President of the Specialist Title Committee of the Brazilian College of Digestive Surgery - CBCD. It has important lines of research related to obesity, bariatric and metabolic surgery, with assistance activities especially focused on laparoscopic and robotic surgery. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
