Graduated in Biological Sciences from the Faculty of Medical and Biological Sciences of Botucatu (1977), Master in Biological Sciences (Plant Biology) from the Universidade Estadual Paulista Julio de Mesquita Filho (1982) and Ph.D. in Biological Sciences (Botany), University of Sao Paulo (1991). Did expertise in electron microscopy at the Catholic University of Chile. He is currently Professor at the Institute of Biosciences, Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), Botucatu campus. Has experience in the field of Botany, Plant Morphology subarea with emphasis on species of cerrado, mainly in the following areas: plant anatomy, cellular ultrastructure, cellular aspects of secretion in plants. Is the coordinator of the Graduate Program in Biological Sciences (Botany) for two consecutive terms, Scientific Coordinator of the Herbarium BOTU and Vice Supervisor of the Electron Microscopy Center of the IBB, UNESP.
