Dr. Silvia Beatriz Boscardin has a degree in Biological Sciences - Medical Modality from the Federal University of São Paulo (1996). She has a master's degree (1999) and a PhD (2003) in Microbiology and Immunology from the Federal University of São Paulo. She did her postdoctoral studies at the Molecular Immunology Laboratory at Rockefeller University (New York, United States) between 2003 and 2008. She is currently an associate professor at the Department of Parasitology / Institute of Biomedical Sciences of the University of São Paulo (USP). She has experience in Parasitology and Immunology, with emphasis on the development vaccination strategies against parasites and viruses. Current projects involve the use of a strategy aimed at targeting pathogen-derived proteins (more specifically Plasmodium and dengue virus) to dendritic cells (DCs) that are responsible for activating the adaptive immune response. She is a member of the Institute for Investigation in Immunology (INCTiii) and USP's Vaccine Research Center (NPV). (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
