Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the Institute of Biosciences at USP (1996), Master's degree (1999) and a PhD in Biological Sciences (Zoology) from the University of São Paulo (2003). Conducted postdoctoral studies at USP from 2003-2006 with review and phylogeny of Chrysaora jellyfish. He worked as adjunct professor at UFRJ (Campus Macaé, RJ) from May/2006-2009. Has been a professor at USP since May/2009. He is currently a Full Professor in the Department of Zoology (Institute of Biosciences) and Director of the Center for Marine Biology (CEBIMar) at the University of São Paulo. He has experience in Invertebrate Zoology, with emphasis on Biology and Systematics of Scyphozoa and Cubozoa jellyfish, mainly working on the following themes: life cycle, reproduction, Medusozoa, Rhopaliophora, Cnidaria, jellyfish, jellyfish. Acts as editor of Scyphozoa of the database World Register of Marine Species (WoRMS) and of the journal Zootaxa. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
