Citrus canker is a disease caused by the bacterium Xanthomonas citri subsp. citri (XAC), which affects citrus of importance for Brazil’s economy, whereas Xanthomonas fuscans subsp. aurantifolii (XauB) causes cancrosis, a softer form of the disease.
