Birthplace: Brazil

Bachelor's graduated in Chemistry (2003) at the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT), working on environmental contamination by pesticides. Master (2005) and PhD (2010) in Organic Chemistry at Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) and Postdoctoral fellow at Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Ribeirão Preto (USP), working on Natural Products and Medicinal Chemistry. Nowadays he is professor (Associated I) and advisor (undergraduate student, Ms and PhD) of the Graduate Program in Chemistry (stricto sensu) at the Institute of Chemistry in the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU), where he works on Natural Products, Synthesis and Medicinal Chemistry with emphasis in alkaloids and nitrogen compounds with pharmaceutical, agronomic and veterinary potential. Develops collaborative works with emphasis on the discovery of substances to treat neglected diseases (malaria, leishmania, dengue, Chagas disease, schistosomiasis, leprosy, etc.). Also acts in the discovery of compounds with antiviral, antifungal, antibacterial, and antitumor potential and for the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease. Works mainly on the following topics: phytochemistry, bioprospection, biosynthesis, chemosystematics, dereplication, spectroscopy (NMR, IR and UV), mass spectrometry, techniques for determining the stereochemistry of chiral molecules and chemical transformations of natural products to discover lead compounds and drug candidates using Medicinal Chemistry tools. Further, he is coordinator of the Nucleus of Research in Bioactive Compounds (NPCBio) and has experience in fundraising at CNPq and FAPEMIG funding agencies. E-mail: (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
