Birthplace: Brazil

He holds a degree in Pharmacy and Biochemistry from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of São Paulo (1998), a Masters in Food Science from the School of Food Engineering at UNICAMP (2001), and a Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology from the Ribeirão Preto Medical School at USP (2005). He completed two postdoctoral fellowships, the first (20052007) at the Department of Biochemistry, Ribeirão Preto Medical School, and subsequently (20072008) at the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at Oklahoma State University. From 2008 to 2017, he was a lead researcher at the Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM). Since 2010, he has served as a graduate advisor at the Institute of Biology at UNICAMP. Since 2017, he has been a professor at the University of Sorocaba (UNISO), affiliated with the graduate programs in Technological and Environmental Processes and Pharmaceutical Sciences. He has led 14 research projects funded by CNPq and FAPESP and coordinated a FINEP-funded industrial innovation project involving dozens of multinational professionals. He has held a CNPq productivity fellowship since 2012. He regularly reviews funding proposals for CNPq and FAPESP, as well as for international agencies such as the Austrian Science Fund (FWF), the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong, Chiles National Agency for Research and Development (ANID), and Frances National Research Agency (ANR). He has participated as a speaker and organizer of both national and international scientific events in his field. He has experience in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, with an emphasis on Enzymology and Microbial Genetics. His scientific interests combine synthetic biology, omics sciences, and high-throughput screening approaches aimed at developing enzymes and biotechnological solutions for the conversion of lignocellulosic biomass and fossil-based plastics into bioproducts.
