has graduation in Electrical Engineering at Escola Politécnica da Universidade de São Paulo (1983); master in Computer Science at Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (1987); doctorate in Electrical Engineering Systems at Escola Politécnica da Universidade de São Paulo (1992) - part of the research performed at École National des Mines de Paris; Associated Professor at the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics of USP (IME-USP) (1998); Full Professor in Computer Science at IME-USP (2005) and at Faculdade de Filosofia Ciências e Letras de Ribeirão Preto (2008). Nowadays, he is Full Professor at the Computer Science Department of IME-USP. He has experience in the field of Computer Science, with emphasis in Mathematics for Computer Science. He has theoretical works in the following subjects: mathematical morphology; learning of morphological operators; modelling and identification of lattice dynamical systems. Besides, he has applied these techniques in Image Processing and Analysis, Digital Video, gene expression analysis, modelling of biological systems and Ivasion team sports.
