Graduated in Medicine from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (1984), graduated in Natural History from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1973), Master's in Biological Sciences (Physiology) from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1978) ), PhD in Cardiovascular Physiology at the University of São Paulo (1990) and Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine at USP (2005). She is currently a collaborating professor in the department of cardiopneumology and guiding professor at the PPG in Cardiology and Experimental Pathophysiology at the University of São Paulo School of Medicine. She works as a physician at the Hypertension Unit and Head of the Experimental Hypertension Laboratory at the Instituto do Coração, Hospital das Clínicas, Faculty of Medicine, University of São Paulo. She was President of the Coordinating Committee of the Applied Physiology Service of the Instituto do Coração of FMUSP, where she is an integral member of the CEUA. She is currently a member of the CNPq Advisory Committee for Biophysics, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Physiology and Neurosciences (CA-BF) and a Level 1A Productivity Scholar. She has experience in Physiology, with emphasis on Cardiovascular Physiology, working mainly on the following subjects: diabetes, blood pressure, physical training and arterial hypertension. She was President of the Brazilian Society of Hypertension (2010-2012) and has since participated in its Scientific Council and is currently Scientific Director of the Society. was coordinator of the Undergraduate Exchange Program (Capes / Fipse) between Brazilian Universities (InCor (USP), UFMG and UFRGS) and American Universities (Wright State University and Wake Forest University) in the period 2010/2014. She coordinated the Visiting Professor Project with the USA (Nova Southern University and Veterans Administration Hospital- Miami) for the Science Without Borders Program and participated in the INCT Nanobiofar and the Capes-Dfait Program with Canada. She was President of the Brazilian Society of Hypertension, where she currently participates in the Scientific Council. She is a protagonist in the open box platform of Science, as one of the 50 outstanding scientists in the area of #8203;#8203;Biological Sciences in Brazil.
