Professor Arminda has a degree in Social Sciences from the University of São Paulo, a Masters, Doctorate and Associate Professorship in Sociology from the same institution. She is a Productivity Researcher at the National Research Council - CNPQ, Member of the Academy of Sciences of the State of São Paulo/ACIESP (2020) and, since 2005, she has been a full professor at the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences (FFLCH/USP). Its area of #8203;#8203;investigation comprises research in the areas of: sociology of culture; social history of intellectuals, literature and arts; sociology of mass communication; sociological theory. She was a senior researcher at the Institute of Social and Political Studies of São Paulo/IDESP (1987 - 2005), having participated in the History of Social Sciences in Brazil project. Teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Classical and Contemporary Sociological Theory, Sociology of Culture, Brazilian Social Thought. She trained more than 50 masters and doctors, having also guided scientific initiation students and post-doctoral researchers. Dr. Arminda holds and has held, among others, the following institutional positions: Vice-Rector of the University of São Paulo (2022 - 2026); Vice-president of the Observatory of Brazilian Institutions (2023 - current); Coordinator of the USP Women Office (2019 - 2022); Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences at the University of São Paulo - FFLCH/USP (2016 - 2020); Provost of Culture and University Extension at the University of São Paulo (2010 - 2015); Representative of the FFLCH Congregation at the University Council (2005 - 2008); Head of the Sociology Department (2005 - 2008); Executive Secretary of the National Association of Postgraduate Studies and Research in Social Sciences/ ANPOCS (2000 - 2004); Representative of the Sociology Area at the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel/ CAPES (1997 - 2001); Representative of the Human Sciences Area on the Scientific Technical Council - CTC/CAPES (1998 - 2001); Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Sociology at FFLCH/USP (1991 - 1996). She is also a member of Editorial Boards of periodicals in Brazil and abroad, advisor to research support agencies, national and international publishers. Among her works, the following stand out: Metropolis and Culture São Paulo in the middle of the 20th century (two editions); Mythology of "Mineiridade", The Mineiro Imaginary in the Political and Cultural Life of Brazil (two editions). The System Packaging. Advertising in Brazilian Capitalism (three editions). Florestan Fernandes, Master of Modern Sociology (2003) in co-authorship with Prof. Sylvia G. Garcia. She has organized the production of the work of Florestan Fernandes, by Editora Globo (2005 - 2019). She has received numerous academic distinctions, including: Jabuti Award 2002, Honorable Mention, Essays Category with the book Metrópole e Cultura. São Paulo in the middle of the 20th century; ANPOCS Award for Academic Excellence Antônio Flávio Pierucci in Sociology (2014); Friend of the Book Award from the Center for Book and Publishing Studies/NELE (2018); Honor from the Postgraduate Program in Sociology at the Federal University of Paraná/UFP (2015); Imperatriz Leopoldina Cultural Medal, Historical and Geographical Institute of São Paulo (2012). She was selected to participate in the book "Conversa com Sociólogos Brasileiros" (2006). Dr. Arminda presided the Association of Friends of the São Paulo Museum of Contemporary Art/ AAMAC (2019 - 2021); member of the Academic Affairs Committee of the University of São Paulo (2017 - 2020); member of the USP Plenary Assessment/CPA Committee (2017 - 2020). As Coordinator of the USP Women Office at the University of São Paulo, she represented USP in the Impact 10x10x10 Project of the HeForShe Alliance, a coalition of universities coordinated by UN Women.
