Ingeniera Agrónoma por la Universidade Federal de Lavras (1981), maestría (MSC) en Suelos y Nutrición de Plantas por la Universidade Federal de Lavras (1985) y doctorado en Suelos y Nutrición de plantas por la Universidade Federal de Viçosa (1991). Trabaja como investigadora científica en el Instituto Agronômico de Campinas (IAC) desde 1989. Actualmente es profesora del curso de postgraduación del IAC como responsable de la asignatura ?Gestión de los Recursos Ambientales en la Agricultura? y profesora invitada en la Universidade da Coruña (España). Ha realizado estancias de corta duración en el área de Medio Ambiente y visitas técnicas en laboratorios de Análisis de Suelo y Planta en varios países (España, Holanda, Alemania, Estados Unidos, Canadá, México, Australia, Sudáfrica, Tailandia y Hungría). El enfoque de los trabajos científicos es analizar los micronutrientes y metales pesados en suelos y plantas, fitorremediación de metales pesados en suelos y gestión de calidad en los laboratorios.
