graduated in Pharmacy and Biochemistry from Sao Paulo State University - UNESP (2002). During her undergraduate studies, she began her research activities receiving a Research Initiation FAPESP (Sao Paulo State Research Support Foundation) Scholarship. She realized Master´s degree in Bioscience and Biotechnology Applied to Pharmacy - Immunology from Sao Paulo State University - UNESP (2004) using CAPES (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel- Brazil) Master Scholarship. She also has PhD in Bioscience and Biotechnology Applied to Pharmacy - Immunology from Sao Paulo State University - UNESP (2008) and had a scholarship from CNPq (National Counsel of Technological and Scientific Development - Brazil). In addition, she improved her research experience at the Faculty of Medicine of Porto University (FMUP) in Portugal during a Sandwich-PhD Program with CAPES Scholarship (2007-2008). She has a strong background in multidisciplinary fields of research such as immunology, biochemistry, microbiology and pharmacognosy. She has practical and theoretical knowledge in cell cultures (macrophages, HUVEC and tumor cell lines) and experience using in vitro (cell migration, proliferation, viability, capillary-like structure formation, etc) and in vivo (mouse models of tumor development) assays. In addition, she has a good practice of animal experimentation and using the microscope (optical, immunofluorescence and phase contrast microscopy). Her research and didactic-scientific activities are related to the following subjects: immunomodulatory and antitumor activities of natural and synthetic compounds, inflammation and inflammatory mediators (cytokines and nitric oxide), angiogenesis modulation, natural products research, phythotherapy, medicinal plants, endophytic fungi and mycobacteria.
