Graduated in Geology at the Instituto de Geociências, Universidade de São Paulo (1983), Master Degree (1986) and Ph.D. (1992) in Mineralogy and Petrology at Instituto de Geociências Universidade de São Paulo. Full Professor at the Instituto de Geociências, Universidade de São Paulo, in the field of Igneous Petrology. His interests are on several subjects related to the origin and evolution of magmas and consequences for the evolutoin of the Earths crust and mantle, mostly: granitic magmatism, acid-basic volcanism in the Paraná-Etendeka Province, rock and mineral geochemistry; analytical geochemistry, geological mapping and regional geology.
