Agronomist graduated from Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (Unesp) - Faculty of Engineering of Ilha Solteira in January 2004 and Master in Agronomy (specialization in Production Systems) from the same Institution in 2006. In 2009 he obtained the title of Doctor in Science (area of #8203;#8203;concentration in Phytotechnics) from the University of São Paulo (USP) - Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (Esalq), working as Visiting Researcher at the Ohio State University (USA) in 2008. He currently holds the position of Professor at the USP/Esalq. He is the coordinator of the Image Analysis Laboratory of the Department of Plant Production at Esalq and his main research line is the application of Image Analysis techniques to evaluate the physical, chemical and physiological characteristics of seeds and seedlings. He was one of the creators of the Automated Analysis System of Seed Vigor (Vigor-S), currently used by several soybean seed companies in Brazil (funded by Fapesp: process 2006 / 57900-0). He is the author of the patent Device for Acquisition and Processing of Images of Seedlings, filed with the National Institute of Industrial Property-I.N.P.I./S.P., which received No. BR 10 2019 010066-4 (patent resulting from a project financed by Fapesp: process 2015/24008-6). He is currently associate editor of the scientific journal Journal of Seed Science (Qualis B1 in the field of Agricultural Sciences by CAPES), ad hoc advisor to several scientific journals (national and international), elected member of the Board of Directors of the Brazilian Association of Seed Technology (ABRATES) and vice president-elect of the Advanced Technologies Committee of the International Seed Testing Association (ISTA), based in Switzerland (Zurich).
