Professor and Chair of Pharmacology Department of the Ribeirao Preto Medical School (FMRP) - University of Sao Paulo, member of the Sao Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and member of The Brazilian Academy of Sciences. Has experience in Cardiovascular Pharmacology and Physiology and interest directed to signaling pathways that control vascular function and its changes in arterial hypertension, diabetes and obesity. Member of the Editorial Board of Circulation Research and Hypertension, and Associate Editor of The American Journal of Physiology - Regulatory, Integrative and Comparative Physiology. Specific Interests: glycosylation with N-acetilglucosamine (O-GlcNAc) and vascular (dys)function, involvement of cytokines, endothelins, aldosterone and sexual hormones in target-organ damage in cardiovascular diseases.
