Tania Viel holds a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from Sao Paulo State University "Julio de Mesquita Filho" (UNESP, 1995), a Master's degree in Pharmacology from the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP, 1998), and a Ph.D. in Sciences with an emphasis in Pharmacology from the same institution (UNIFESP, 2003).Currently, she is an Associate Professor at the School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities (SASH) of the University of Sao Paulo (USP), where she teaches undergraduate courses in Gerontology and Biotechnology. She also serves as the Coordinator of the Undergraduate Program in Biotechnology (SASH/USP), Vice-Chair of the Undergraduate Studies Committee (SASH/USP), Professor in the Graduate Program in Functional and Molecular Biology (Institute of Biomedical Sciences/USP), and Coordinator of the Laboratory of Neuropharmacology of Aging (LaNE SASH/USP).Her research experience includes pharmacological screening of natural products and investigations in neurotransmission, with a focus on neuroplasticity during the natural aging process, cell senescence, neurochemical aspects of Alzheimers disease, and strategies to improve cognitive function, including physical activity, environmental enrichment, and nutritional interventions.
