bachelor's in chemical engineering from the State University of Maringá (1988), master's in Chemical Engineering from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP, 1991) and doctorate in Chemical Engineering also from UNICAMP (1996) with the experimental part fully developed at the North Carolina State University. Currently, Ângela Moraes works at the Department of Engineering of Materials and of Bioprocesses at the School of Chemical Engineering, at UNICAMP. where she is associate director. Ângela Moraes has experience in Chemical Engineering, focusing on Biomaterials and Biochemical Processes, mostly on the following subjects: animal cell culture, development of biomaterials for human and animal health, particularly of devices composed of chitosan, alginate, xanthan gum and other polyssacharides useful as membranes and scaffolds for regenerative medicine of tissues such as skin, bones and cartilage, development of devices for the controlled release of bioactive agents such as drugs and vaccines, study of the formation, control and prevention of microbial biofilms. With regard to international experience, Profa. Ângela Moraes has developed activities with professors and researchers from the following institutions, all of which resulted in joint publications in indexed journals: University of Maastrich (Netherlands), University of Nottingham (United Kingdom), Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium), Trinity College Dublin (Ireland ), Universidad Católica de Temuco (Chile), Colorado State University (USA), Université Laval (Canada) and Universidade de Coimbra (Portugal).
