Graduation at Ciências Biológicas from Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso (1982), master's at Sociology from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1990), doctorate at Social Sciences from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1996) and Pos-doctaral at University of Reading/UK.
