Graduation in Materials Engineering at Universidade Federal de São Carlos (1976), Master Science in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1980) and Dr.-Ing in Foundry Technology (Giessereikunde) at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule / Aachen / West Germany (1990). Worked in Nuclear Technology from 1977 to 1993, in Nuclebrás and National Nuclear Energy Commission. Since March 2006, is Titular Professor, Department of Materials Engineering, Federal University of São Carlos, where he has been working as professor since March 1995, and Technical Director of the Center for Characterization and Development Materiais-CCDM/DEMa/UFSCar, since March 1993. He has experience in Materials Engineering and Metallurgy, with emphasis on Casting and Solidification and Mechanical Properties, acting on the following topics: spray forming, aluminum alloys and steel foundry, evaluation and development of materials for orthopedic implants, development of wear resistant coatings and corrosion to the oil industry and failure analysis and prevention. Coordinated and coordinates research projects funded by FAPESP, FINEP, CNPq and CAPES and several companies. Maintain international cooperation with IST / UTL / Lisbon, Portugal (surface modification and coatings with laser), UAB / Barcelona / Spain (Development of amorphous alloys and their mechanical properties), IWT / Bremen / Germany (spray forming of alloys based on iron and aluminum ), HGZ / Geestacht and TUHH / Hamburg / Germany (friction stir welding), GI / RWTH Aachen / Germany (casting technology), IFW / Dresden / Germany (Development of amorphous alloys and sintering of amorphous powder by LASER); VTECH / Blacksburg / USA (nanostructured materials obtained by high energy ball milling).
