Prof. Dr. Susanne Rath is an Associate Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the Institute of Chemistry, University of Campinas (Unicamp), Brazil, where she coordinates the Paracelsus Bioanalytical Laboratory. She holds a Bachelors degree in Chemistry from the University of Brasília (1983), a Masters degree in Chemistry from Unicamp (1986), a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Johann Wolfgang Goethe Universität Frankfurt a.M., Germany (1990), and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Unicamp (1996). Dr. Rath has an extensive academic and research career, with 128 published articles in scientific journals, 11 book chapters, and 6 patents. She has presented over 230 works at scientific conferences and supervised 17 Masters dissertations, 20 Doctoral theses, 32 undergraduate research projects, and 6 postdoctoral fellows. She has also successfully coordinated 23 externally funded research projects. Her research is multidisciplinary, encompassing Analytical Chemistry, Pharmacy, Food Toxicology, and Environmental Chemistry. Her main research areas include: Detection and analysis of toxic compounds in food; Risk assessment of veterinary drugs, focusing on withdrawal periods and maximum residue limits; Pharmacokinetic studies; Analysis of toxic compounds and active ingredients in cosmetics; Quality control of veterinary drugs; Environmental impact of veterinary antimicrobials and antiparasitics. Dr. Rath has contributed significantly to scientific committees and regulatory bodies. She has been a member of the FAO/WHO Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA) since 2009 and has worked with the Brazilian National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) since 2011. She has also collaborated with the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Supply in initiatives related to plant and animal health. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
