Geologist graduated in 1977. From 1978 to 1988 he worked at a Brazilian engineering consulting company, Paulo Abib Engenharia, in the areas of process mineralogy and mineral dressing of a large number of Brazilian mining projects. Did his MSc in Geology in 1988 and PhD in Mining Engineering in 1991, both by Univ. of Sao Paulo. Started his career at the Mining Eng. Dept. of the Polytechnic School of University of Sao Paulo in 1984; currently is Associated Professor (1999), the Head of the LCT -Technological Characterization Lab. (since 1991) and Past-President of the International Council for Applied Mineralogy (2008-2011). Main research interests include applied mineralogy of metallic ores and industrial minerals, analytical techniques and mineral dressing development/optimization and recycle of CDW - construction and demolition wastes.
