Birthplace: Peru

has a degree in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Engineering [Lima, Peru] (1999), a master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Maranhão (2002), and a PhD and associate professor in Electrical Engineering from the State University of Campinas (2006 and 2019, respectively). He worked as a researcher and collaborating professor at the State University of Campinas (2006-2007; 2008-2010), at the Polytechnic University of Catalunya (2007-2008) [Barcelona, #8203;#8203;Spain], and at Ryerson University (2019) [Toronto, Canada]. He was an Assistant Professor at the São Paulo State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho at the Ilha Solteira Campus (2010-2015). He is currently an Associate Professor (MS5) at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Campinas, a CNPq 1C researcher, a Concytec Level I Researcher and a Senior Member of the IEEE. His professional and academic experience includes consulting, research projects, publication of scientific articles and short courses. He works as a reviewer of articles submitted to more than 20 international scientific journals and is an ad hoc scientific advisor for FAPESP, CNPq, CAPES and FEPISA. He has published 6 book chapters, more than 130 full papers in scientific event proceedings and more than 100 articles in scientific journals, most of which were published in international journals indexed by ISI: IEEE-TPWRS, IET-GTD (formerly IEE-PGTD), ELSEVIER-EPSR and ELSEVIER-IJEPES, which are classified as Qualis A1 by CAPES. His articles have been cited in the ISI Web of Science database over 4,200 times (H index = 39), in the Scopus database over 5,500 times (H index = 43) and in Google Scholar over 8,100 times. He has completed the supervision or co-supervision of over 50 PhD, Master's and scientific initiation students, and is currently supervising over 10 students (most of whom are CAPES, CNPq or FAPESP scholarship holders). He has participated in over 150 PhD, Master's and qualification committees. He has served as principal investigator or coordinator in over 20 RD projects funded by Brazilian companies or funding agencies. He has taught over 10 different courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, some of which are new courses in the graduate program with the objective of presenting the contributions of the research carried out. He has received several awards and recognitions highlighting his excellence in teaching and research. He carries out research work in the area of #8203;#8203;Electrical Engineering, with an emphasis on Electrical Power Systems, working mainly in the development of deterministic and stochastic mathematical models and the application of classical optimization techniques and meta-heuristics to solve problems of operation and/or planning of the expansion of electricity generation, transmission and distribution systems.
