received the B.Sc. and P.E. degrees in 1999 and 2000, respectively, from the National University of Engineering, Lima, Perú, the M.Sc. degree in 2002 from the Federal University of Maranhão, Maranhão, Brazil, and the Ph.D. degree in 2006 from University of Campinas, Campinas, Brazil, all in electrical engineering. Currently, he is carrying out post doctorate work at the University of Campinas. His areas of research are the development of methodologies for the optimization, planning and control of electrical power systems, electrical power system analysis in competitive environment and applications of artificial intelligence in power systems.
