Holds a Bachelors degree in Aerospace Mechanical Engineering, with specialization in Design and Testing of Equipment, and a Masters degree in Plasma Dynamics from the Institute of Mechanics (Leningrad, Russia, 1991). Earned a PhD in Physics from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in 2001. Completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Plasma Metallurgy at the State University of Campinas in 2004 and a postdoctoral fellowship in Aerospace Engineering at the Department of Physics of the Aeronautics Institute of Technology (ITA) in 2007.Has extensive experience in Plasma Physics, with emphasis on thermal plasmas and electrical discharges in atmospheric-pressure gases, working on research topics including electric arcs, plasma torches, arc spot phenomena, heat transfer, plasma-assisted chemical processes, diagnostics of thermal plasmas, and plasma-assisted process technologies.Research interests focus on technological applications of plasma, particularly plasma-assisted gasification and combustion, plasma spray, and plasma technologies applied to the energy and environmental sectors.
