Gerson Barreto Mourão is an Associate Professor (Level 3) at the University of São Paulo, specializing in Animal Science with a focus on Genomic Statistics, Animal Breeding, and Animal Science Design and Experimentation. He holds a degree in Animal Science from UFLA, a Master's degree in Animal Breeding from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, a Doctorate in Animal Science (Quality and Animal Productivity) from the University of São Paulo, and a Livre-Docência from the same institution. Currently, he is the coordinator of the Animal Breeding Laboratory at ESALQ and a member of CEUA-ESALQ. With over 210 articles published in specialized journals, one book and one book chapter, as well as dozens of works in event proceedings, he has extensive experience in scientific research in the field of Animal Science. He is a scientific editor of the journal Scientia Agricola and Frontiers (Livestock Genomics), and a reviewer for renowned journals such as Animal, Livestock Science, Genetics and Molecular Biology, Pesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira, and Ciência Rural. Throughout his career, he has participated in 25 events in Brazil and abroad, collaborating with over a hundred colleagues as co-authors of scientific articles. In addition, he has supervised eight doctoral theses, fourteen master's dissertations, and ten scientific initiation works in the field of Animal Science. For his outstanding work, he has received four awards and/or honors and had the opportunity to conduct two sabbatical periods at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. From 2016-2018, he also coordinated the Graduate Program in Animal Science and Pastures (ESALQ/USP). With this information, it is possible to perceive the breadth and relevance of his work in the field of Animal Science (Genetics, Genomics, and Animal Breeding), highlighting his experience and contributions in scientific research, academic supervision, and coordination of graduate programs.
