Bachelor in Physics from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (1988), master's in Physics from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (1990) and Ph.D. in "Physique Quantique" from Université Pierre et Marie Curie (1994). Visiting Professor at Cornell University in 2012. Member of the Scientific Council of the "Fundação Instituto de Física Teórica" (Principia Foundation) and former Member of the International Council of the Optical Society (OSA), from 2014-2018. Former Topical Editor of Optics Letters and former Associate Editor of the Brazilian Journal of Physics. Full Professor at the Instituto de Física, Universidade de São Paulo. Former Head of the Graduate Program in Physics at the Instituto de Fisica. Former member of the Scientific Advisory Board in Physics at the Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP), 2018-2022. Presenter of Science and Scientists on Radio USP, from 2018 to 2022. Since July 2023, he is a co-author of the monthly column "Caminhos da Inovação", in Folha de S. Paulo on-line. Since February 2022, Provost for Research and Innovation at the Universidade de São Paulo. He is a Fellow of Optica and received special mention in the Nature Awards for Mentorship in Science. He is a member of the Advisory Committee of the ATIO initiative (Agrifood Systems Technologies and Innovation Outlook) of FAO-ONU and is a member of the International Advisory Board da Université de Montpellier. FAPESP Week France 2019 | Paulo Alberto Nussenzveig

A researcher from the University of São Paulo's Physics Institute, Nussenzveig spoke about quantum information with multiple modes of light and highlighted that quantum light is suitable not only for communication, but also for computing.
