Bachelor's degree (1996) and Direct Doctorate (2002) in Electrical Engineering from EESC-USP, professor in the Department of Computer Systems at ICMC, University of São Paulo, and post-doctorate from Università di Roma Tor Vergata. Currently, he is the director of the Open Source Competence Center and a researcher at the USP Center for Artificial Intelligence (C4IA). Dr. Monaco teaching focuses on system software (hardware-software interaction) and open-source/open-science methodologies --- and his research is in machine learning with a focus on multi-objective evolutionary optimization.
