Soraia Maria Silva

I graduated in Dance from the University of Campinas (1989), I?ve got a Master of Arts degree from the ?Universidade Estadual de Campinas? S.P(1994) and a PhD degree in literature from the University of Brasília DF (2003). Since 1996 I work as a professor at the University of Brasília in the Department of Performing Arts. My area of research is Arts with emphasis on Choreography, mainly on the following themes: dance, literature, art and choreographic composition , fine arts painting. At UnB I coordinate the CDPDan (http://e-groups.unb.br/cdpdan/)-collective of documentation and research on Dance Eros Volúsia (CEN/UnB), which seeks to establish a space of reflection and practice of dance, especially with the project ?Mixed Dance.? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-19-m1w0OCc). At the University I advise masters and PhD students in the field of compositional process for stage for the postgraduate program in Art of UnB. Among other artistic projects I was involved in producing and performing: ?In the beginning? (http://cdpdan.blogspot.com), with the sponsorship of FAC (Fund of Art and Culture of the Federal District government (2010); ?Poemadançando? Trilogy: dance performances in the 7th International Meeting of Arts and Technology (2008) at the National Museum; ?Prophets in Movement? (2006) (Caixa Econômica Federal and FAC), as a result of an interdisciplinary project (a mix of several scenic dancing styles with the Prophets sculpture by Aleijadinho (a Brazilian artist from the XVIII century) including scriptural literature, painting, music and art technology; War dance of the Xavante Tseretomodzatsé people - a Brazilian Indian tribe (2005) (Caixa Econômica Federal and FAC) a performance coproduced by the Xavante people and I. We have performed it several times around Federal District. I have also produced some videodance, one of the recent ones is My heart dances in Montserrat (2010) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEUgRKCqhYY) and Memories of the Land (2011) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nEg6xlgOcg) Among my bibliographic production projects there are some books- In the Beginning (2010/Edunb Postgraduation Program in Art of UnB); Prophets in Movement (2001/Edusp and National Press); Poemadançando Gilka Machado and Eros Volúsia (2007/Edunb); and chapters in books: the Expressionism and the dance (2002), Postmodernism and dance (2005), and Surrealism and Dance (2008) both published in the collection of Stylus Publishing perspective.
