Birthplace: Brazil

Graduated in Pharmacy-Biochemistry by the School of Pharmacy and Dentistry of Ribeirão Preto - USP (1980), Master's degree (1984) and PhD (1991) in Biological Sciences (Biochemistry) by the Ribeirão Preto Medical School of the University of São Paulo, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Ribeirão Preto - USP (2001). She holds the position of Full Professor at FCFRP-USP since 31/07/2014. She is a Master's and PhD Advisor for the Graduate Program in Toxicology at FCFRP-USP. Acts as Reviewer of scientific journals such as: Toxicon, Biochimie, Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology. C, Toxicology & Pharmacology, European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, British Journal of Pharmacology, Acta Pharmacologica Sinica, Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, Brazilian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Neurochemistry International, Cellular and Molecular Life Sciences, Protein & Peptide Letters, Journal of Cell Biology and Genetics, The Journal of Venomous Animals and Toxins including Tropical Diseases (Advisory Editor), among others. Provides scientific advice to FAPESP, CNPq, FAPEMIG, UNESP and FAPESB. Participated in the Thematic Committee for Evaluation of proposals submitted to edict MCT / CNPq 70/2008. She was Coordinator of the International Academic Agreement between Universitá di Parma (Italy) and USP through FCFRP. She coordinated the International Academic Agreement between the University of Leuven (Belgium) and USP through FCFRP. She is the Coordinator of the International Academic Agreement between the University of Liege (Belgium) and FCFRP. He is a member of the International Society on Toxinology (IST), the Brazilian Society of Biochemistry (SBBq), the Brazilian Society of Toxinology (SBTx) and the Brazilian Association of Pharmaceutical Sciences (ACBF). She has a registered technological product (Pharmaceutical Compositions containing Hyaluronidase and its uses). She has experience in the field of biochemistry, with emphasis on chemistry of macromolecules (proteins), working mainly on the following topics: biochemical and molecular characterization of toxins isolated from venoms of scorpions, snakes and ants, as well as toad poisons by determining the amino acid sequence, molecular mass, isoelectric point and enzymatic activity (proteases, hyaluronidases, phospholipases, phosphodiesterases and L-amino acid oxidases). Evaluation of their actions on ion channels, hemostatic system, inflammatory process and other biological systems, aiming at the identification of compounds that can be used as models for the development of new drugs or as pharmacological tools. Analysis of transcriptomes and proteomes of animal venoms. The objective is also to obtain the molecules with the highest biotechnological potential by heterologous expression.
